Meigs Field is No More!

AOPA and EAA are reporting that the City of Chicago public works department brought heavy equipment onto Meigs Field at 1:30am this morning, and carved the runway up, permanently closing Meigs Field. No warning was given to based aircraft or even the FAA or the FBO. 16 Aircraft are now trapped at Meigs. It is reported that when the FBO asked the City what to do about the stranded aircraft, they were told "That's your problem". The only reason given was that of "Homeland Security".

The salary pilots make is another thing I like. They make more money than they know what to do with. This is because most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots don't because they know how easy it is. --5th grade student
