Aviation Security Advisory Committee report to TSA

The Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) has issued its final report on General Aviation security and transmitted it to the TSA. Here are copies of the ASAC Transmittal Letter and ASAC Final Report

At this point its only a set of recommendations, and we still have a more restricted environment at ORH. So it doesn't look like it would cause any significant changes at Worcester. But smaller airports could see some changes.

Dave R Replies:

Everything in the report is a recommendation, and there's nothing that says "we think these should be regulations". It's not a bad report, and certainly the MAC security directive goes well beyond the recommendations in it.

One "gotcha" is the call for photo airman certificates. I don't know how this would work in a practical sense. Where I grew up and learned to fly was 150 miles from the nearest FSDO and even greater distances aren't unsual out West. Where would people go to get the photo taken? Would student pilots have to have one before taking lessons? There are some details missing from that proposal.
